Bridgeport Middle School’s boys and girls track teams
were victorious in a meet held April 2 at the “Track
to the Future” complex at Wayne Jamison Field.
The girls took first place in the six-team field with
180 points. Elkins was second with 122.67 points and
Taylor County was third with 95 points.
On the boys side, the Braves rolled to the win with
173.67 points. Washington Irving was second in the
six-team meet with 118.33 points. Elkins was a close
third with 113 points.
For the girls, Jenna Fogg took first place in the 800
meter run with a time of 2 minutes and 47.27 seconds.
Fogg also took first in the high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 8 inches.
Kate Bishop earned first place in the 75 and 200 meter
hurldes. She posted a time of 14.69 seconds to get the
win in the 75 and a time of 33.70 seconds in the 200.
Bishop also took first in the long jump and in the
shot put. She had a jump of 13 feet, 5 inches and a
throw of 28 feet, 1.5 inces.
The other first place winner was the 4x200 meter relay
team of Maria Sellas, Kendall McCaugherty, Whitney
Rhoades and Chelsy Carey also were victorious. They
posted a time of 2:07.25.
For the boys, Josh Brown won the 100 and 400 meter
dash events. He posted a time of 12.81 seconds in the
100 and came back with a time of 59.66 seconds to win the 400.
In the 800 meter run, Jon Fischer took first place. He
posted a time of 2:32.06.
The BMS boys 4x400 meter relay team of Jeremy
Sheppard, Alec Taylor, Andrew Hoover and Matt Larosa
was victorious. The group had a winning time of 4:28.71.
The 4x800 team also found first place. The team of
Eric Green, Hoover, Fischer and Larosa had a time of 10:09.24.
In the pole vault, Nathan Schwenk was the winner. He cleared 9 feet in the event.
Also, Monday's meet was scratched due to inclement
weather. No makeup was announced.
