Bridgeport’s boys finished in third place at last
week’s Big 10 Conference Cross Country championship
held at the Veteran’s Park in Clarksburg.
The boys, with total of 92 points, trailed Grafton and
Liberty. A total of six teams competed on the boys
side.
The BHS girls finished fourth out of four in the
event. The girls totaled 87 points, which was off the
pace of first place Grafton, runner-up Robert C. Byrd
and third place Philip Barbour.
For the boys, Ben Booth was the top finisher. He came
in 10th out of 45 runners with a time of 18 minutes
and 2.2 seconds. Brant Edgell was just off his pace
for a 12th place finish with a time of 18 minutes and
18.5 seconds.
On the girls side, Kate Merinar was once again leading
the way for Bridgeport. She came in sixth out of 28
runners with a time of 21 minutes and 46.8 seconds.
Kate Folio was 20th for BHS. She posted a time of 25
minutes and 25 seconds.
The Indians are back in action this afternoon in Class
AA regional action. The competition will be held at
the Apple Valley Golf Course.
If the Indians qualify any runners at the regional
competition, they will compete in the state cross
country championships that will be held Nov. 2 in
Mineral Wells.
