Members of Bridgeport High School's boys and girls
cross country teams took part in the
Preston
Mountaintop Cross Country Invitational Saturday.
Although the girls didn't participate as a team,
several individual runners did compete. Jenna Fogg was
the top performer for the girls by finishing 21st in
the field of 94 runners. The sophomore posted a time
of 22 minutes and 55.59 seconds.
Also placing were sophomore Tedi Derrickson (68th,
25:59.72) and sophomore Melissa Posey (91st, 32:15.71)
The boys did field a team. The club took the 14th spot
in the 14-team field.
Senior Ben Booth was the top BHS boys finisher. His
time of 19 minutes and 22.42 seconds was good for 35th
in the 99-person field.
Also placing were freshman Andrew Seyler (89th,
22:33.90); sophomore Mike Williams (94th, 25:04.69),
senior Lindon Yoder (95th, 25:27.86); sophomore Jason
Hooks (96th, 26:12.17), freshman Travis Coakley (97th,
26:21:47) and junior Deandre Parker (98th, 26:22.96).
On Sept. 27, the boys and girls cross country teams
ran in the Jerry Dove Memorial 5K at the FBI complex
in
Clarksburg. There were 249 runners in the event.
Booth led the way finishing fifth, while Brandon Smith
was 35th. Following those two were Jason Hooks (35th),
Fogg (42nd), Williams (50th) and Derrickson (81st.)
Sophomore standout Kate Merinar did not compete due to
injury.
